Follow the Reiki: Lauren Scott’s life-changing journey focuses on spiritual healing

After the death of her father, Lauren Scott was in desperate need of “spiritual healing.” She discovered Reiki, a natural healing process that restores physical and emotional well-being using life energy. It was a life-changing experience for Scott, who founded Reiki Euphoria in Rochester and is now helping others find their spiritual healing.

    “Follow the Reiki.”

Lauren Scott did just that, and it helped her through a tragedy in her life and led her to creating her own business where others can find comfort and healing because “we all need healing in our lives.” she says.

Scott, owner and founder of Reiki Euphoria LLC in Rochester, says she has always been a spiritual person and believes Reiki has always been there for her. “I just needed to find it.” she says.

Her “journey” started with the sudden passing of her father. “Going through the heartache and tragedy of unexpectedly losing my dad put me on a path where I had to heal myself so I could keep pushing forward with my life,” Scott says. “On the one-year anniversary of my dad’s passing, I signed up for a Reiki 1 and 2 class, and it changed my life.”

Scott, 39, went on to take Master class, Animal Reiki, and then the Animal Reiki Master class. “It gave me the calling to help others through Reiki,” she says. “It wasn’t only healing for me but life-changing. I feel like I was led to go this way and my dad is watching me and is my cheerleader.”

Reiki is a spiritual healing art with roots in Japan. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei), which means “universal life” and (Ki), which means “energy.” It isn’t affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice it isn’t massage and it isn’t based on belief or suggestion.

“It’s the life energy that flows through all living things,” Scott says. Scott, a certified Usui/Holy Fire III Reiki Master/Practitioner and Karuna Reiki Master, is also an ICRT Animal Reiki Master. She’s a member of the International Center for Reiki Training, The International Association of Reiki Professionals, and the Shelter Animal Reiki Association.

Reiki Euphoria, which opened in August, offers many different services including regular Reiki sessions, animal Reiki sessions, and classes for those interested in teaching Reiki.

A Reiki session, which lasts about an hour, can help ease tension and stress and helps support the body to facilitate an environment for healing on all levels – physical, mental, and emotional. Sessions are pleasant and relaxing, and are utilized for one’s personal wellness.

Animal Reiki is a special style of Reiki with specialized techniques whereby practitioners offer the benefits of Reiki to all species and their caregivers. Reiki can be done face-to-face or virtually.

Reiki Euphoria also offers classes in Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 that run for two days. “Reiki 1 is a lot of the history and people get to practice a little on themselves and each other,” Scott says. “In Reiki 2, they get placed with some of the Reiki symbols so they’re able to use them. It’s a lot of fun and a lot of healing.”

Students receive a certification to become a practitioner after completing the classes. Scott says the reaction to her business has been very positive.

“A lot of people are curious about what we do and what we offer,” she says. “Not a lot of places offer Reiki classes like we do so there’s been great interest in that. When some people come into Reiki classes they don’t know what they’re walking into. To see them realize they can do it on their own is really a fun and rewarding process.”

In fact, the entire “journey” has been rewarding.

“Reiki heals what it needs to heal in people,” Scott says. “Everyone experiences things differently. I love being able to watch people’s lives transform in the same way Reiki(changed my life).”
