Punxsutawney Phil may have predicted six more weeks of winter in 2025, but don’t let
that stop you from getting excited for summer! From the National Cherry Festival to Polaris Slingshot cruises to picnics on the shores of Lake Michigan, the opportunities for adventure are endless. This year, get a head start on your summer vacation plans by taking a SkyNav tour of Traverse City from the comfort of your own home. SkyNav builds 3D and 360° virtual tours of travel destinations, and Traverse City was the first community in Michigan to adapt this technology. The software uses virtual reality (VR) and interactive mapping with panoramic photography to create immersive online experiences. With SkyNav, you’ll be transported to the heart of Traverse City on a beautiful day, enabling you to plan your summer getaway, whether Phil sees his shadow or not. Dive into a captivating digital tour here to get a sneak peek of your upcoming vacation today!

Entering the SkyNav experience, users are greeted with a stunning aerial view of
Downtown Traverse City. Navigate in a circle to discover the award-winning vineyards, nearby port towns, places to stay, local parks and trails, and more. Even virtually, it’s impossible to ignore the crown jewel of the Traverse City area: The water that hugs it. Inland lakes, Lake Michigan, and flowing rivers; all best experienced in the sunny summertime. While you certainly can’t go wrong with a classic beach day in northern Michigan, there are a multitude of ways to get out on the water. Trade your flippers for a cocktail and enjoy a float on Grand Traverse Bay aboard the Nauticat, a catamaran that sets sail four times daily. Or embark on an educational sail with the Inland Seas Education Association, becoming a Great Lakes scientist while learning about the ecosystem. Want to be the captain of your own ship? Rent a jet ski, pontoon boat, stand up paddle board, speed boat, or kayak to take a voyage of your own. Don’t forget a fishing pole
—you can drop a line yourself or charter a fishing expedition to find out what marine life calls inhabits our waters.

In between aquatic adventures in Traverse City, the summer months are jam-packed with
local events to enjoy. The 99th annual National Cherry Festival takes place from June 28th to July 5th and involves over 100 events (85% of them free)! Over half a million people flock to the area for nightly live concerts, Ultimate Air Dogs shows, Midway rides and attractions, local restaurants, and of course, cherries. In September, a unique event that draws pyrotechnic teams from all corners of the world is the International Fireworks Competition, held at Turtle Creek Stadium. Find a one-of-a-kind souvenir at the Frankfort Craft Fair, one of the finest outdoor craft fairs in the state. Take a “Taste of the Village” tour; a history, wine and beer tour of the Grand Traverse Commons that indulges all five senses. Become a local at the 2025 Empire Asparagus Festival, filled with tasty asparagus eats, live music on Front Street, children’s activities, and a Fun Run.

It is never too early to plan your summer vacation up north. Thanks to SkyNav, it’s easier
than ever. Using digital exploration, book your stay in Traverse City today!
