Metro Detroit lifestyle blogger Jillian Burden (@jillianburden) takes us through a fun and safe day of shopping to support local businesses hit particularly hard during the pandemic.
Starting in downtown Ferndale, Burden picks up some essentials for her daughter at Modern Natural Baby known for their natural items, including cloth diapers, wooden toys, and more.
Then she visits one of her favorite places, The Rust Belt Market. The indoor marketplace with an array of small business owners, offer a variety of merchandise from plants to organic T-shirts to one-of-a-kind gifts and or unique items.
Burden then switches up the scene and heads for The Robot Garage in Rochester Hills, a place that teaches young minds with hands-on learning, problem solving, and teamwork. She then heads back to Ferndale with a stop at Rouge Makeup and Nail Salon owned by two sisters who make all their products in-house.
Finally, Burden ends her shopping day with a date night with her husband at a safe, outdoor bubble at Kruse & Muer on Main in Rochester for a romantic and delicious dinner.
She reminds us that we can still shop safely and support local small businesses at the same time. michigan.org/supportlocal
