There is no better place to ring in the New Year than the coastal community of Traverse City. Kick 2025 off to a magical start in the town’s picturesque, cozy setting. With so many ways to celebrate in the TC area, you’ll be sure to maximize holiday cheer.

    Downtown CherryT Ball Drop

What’s more iconic than a New Year’s Eve ball drop? Nothing… except a New Year’s Eve cherry drop! In Traverse City, take the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness a 600-pound cherry fall out of the sky. When the clock strikes midnight, you’ll have the chance to share a special moment with your loved one while a glowing cherry descends onto Downtown TC. The CherryT event starts at 10 pm on New Year’s Eve and the drop happens at the intersection of Front and Cass Street. The whole family is welcome to join the festivities and there will be a live DJ pumping up the jams – all you need is a $5 donation per person. “CherryT” is a play on the words “cherry” and “charity”, since the event is put on with the goal of raising money for local causes. The holiday spirit is all about giving back and this night creates a unique blend of jubilee and philanthropy. Make an impact on the same community you’ll be celebrating with at the CherryT Ball Drop!

Pro Tip: Want a golden ticket to the CherryT action? North Bar, Traverse City’s year-round rooftop deck, is hosting a New Year’s Eve Celebration that boasts a birds-eye view of the cherry drop from an indoor vantage point. The soiree includes a champagne toast, a photo booth, and a snack board. Tickets on sale November 22nd.

    NYE Celebration at Crystal Mountain

If you’re seeking an all-out, northern Michigan New Year’s Eve experience, look no further than the NYE Celebration at Crystal Mountain. From dinner plans to gift bags to live music to family gatherings, the team at Crystal has thought of everything. Crystal Mountain is an idyllic ski and golf resort located in Thompsonville, Michigan. Indulge in a weekend of skiing, relaxing at the spa, taking horse drawn surrey rides, fat tire biking, exploring the outdoor Art Park, and hitting the hot tub. On January 31st, you’ll choose between dinner at The Thistle, dinner at the Wild Tomato, and the Family Party buffet. The festive evening will conclude with the annual Torchlight Parade and a fireworks display.

    Black Star Farms Wine Dinner

Voted Michigan’s best winery by the Detroit Metro Times, Black Star Farms is hosting a formal New Year’s Eve Wine Dinner. The top-notch culinary team of four talented chefs is curating a multi-course, wine-paired dining extravaganza. Each chef will present their course and reveal the ingenuity of their creations. The night will commence with a sparkling wine reception and the meal will be held at feasting tables to spark conversations and foster companionship. Welcome 2025 with class and elegance as a guest of the Black Star Farms Wine Dinner.

New Year’s at Grand Traverse Resort

If you love to boogie, don’t miss out on the Grand Traverse Resort’s ‘Party at the Top of the Tower’! Tickets aren’t required; the bash is first come, first serve for the first 200 guests. Ride the elevator up to the 17th floor to find a DJ, dance party, and a fireworks show at midnight. For an upscale NYE experience at the Grand Traverse Resort, treat yourself to panoramic views of Lake Michigan and the exquisite five-course dinner at Aerie Restaurant and Lounge.

The new year is near and the time to book your northern stay is here!
