Detroit-native Grace Warner is a professional street snowboarder who will be joined by over 40 of the top street snowboard athletes in the world for Red Bull Heavy Metal at Hart Plaza on Feb. 11, 2023.

“I’m beyond excited to bring Red Bull Heavy Metal to my hometown and compete alongside a legendary crew of riders,” Weber said in a press release. “I just want to show the best that Detroit has to offer while inspiring others to do what they love. Snowboarding has given me so much joy, I want others to have the opportunity to experience it too!”

Red Bull Heavy Metal is a one-day street snowboard contest during which spectators will witness world-renowned athletes like Zeb Powell, Luke Winklemann, and Jesse Augustinus participate in progressive rail riding. Gates will open at noon on Saturday, Feb. 11 at Detroit’s Hart Plaza with no cost to get in.

The event has three distinct zones where the athletes will be competing. Stop by to see them showcase their skills and techniques while bringing the street snowboarding community together.

Zone one, The Wall, is the most unique zone and will feature stalls, handplants and other tricks on a 20-foot slab of concrete. It runs 2-2:30 p.m. Athletes will tackle The Kink Rail, in zone two, which runs 3-3:30 p.m. The last zone, zone three, is the Down Rail. It runs 4-5 p.m. and will challenge participants to ride a 50-foot down rail that descends the steps of the Hart Plaza amphitheater with a breathtaking view of Detroit in the background.

The awards ceremony will commence at 5:30 p.m.

“I’m stoked to help bring such an iconic event to a city with a big street snowboarding scene. I can’t wait for the crowd to see what we put down in Hart Plaza!” Red Bull snowboard athlete Benny Milam, who is coming to the event after a 19-year hiatus, said in a press release.
