Pontiac Spring Carnival: This eighth annual kid-friendly event provides all of the classic carnival attractions, including rides, games, and food. Through May 29. Jimmy John’s FieldThe Utica Unicorns will face off against the Westside Wooly Mammoths Friday evening. There will also be a fireworks show after the game.  May 26. $6-35. 7171 Auburn Rd., Utica; 248-601-2400.

Meadow Brook HallThe famous mansion on Oakland University’s campus will be open for tours on Saturday. The tours, which allow guests to explore the unique architecture of the house and its large grounds, are self-guided. May 26. Free. 350 Estate Dr., Rochester; 248-364-6200.

Troy Family Aquatic CenterCelebrating its 25th year, the Troy Family Aquatic Center is opening its outdoor pool and splash pad for the summer. May 26. Tickets for Troy residents are $10 and $15 for non-residents. 3425 Civic Center Dr., Troy; 248-524-3516.

Red Oaks WaterparkOpening for Memorial Day weekend on Saturday, this family-friendly waterpark will be fully operational, including the splash pad, lazy river, and water slides. May 27. MovementThis year’s three-day electronic music festival will feature performances by Richie Hawtin Close, Adam Beyer, Carlcox, and more. Over 25 artists, retailers, and record labels will also be on-site. May 27-29. $85+. Hart Plaza, Detroit.

Balloons Over Bavarian InnAs part of the yearly Frankenmuth-based festival, hot air balloons will race over the German town and light up when nighttime comes. May 26-29. The event is free and open to the public. 925 Main St., Frankenmuth; 989-652-7200.
