Cranbrook Art Museum
Just next door to the Cranbrook Institute of Science is the Cranbrook Art Museum. The museum offers free admission every Thursday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m., with a wide variety of exhibitions, collections, interactive activities, lectures, events, and more. Some of the exhibitions currently on display include Skilled Labor: Black Realism in Detroit, Carl Toth: Reordering Fictions, and Constellations & Affinities: Selections from the Cranbrook Collection. Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History
Right off of Woodward, enjoy the second Sunday of each month at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History free of charge. Some exhibits currently on display at the museum include Ruth E. Carter’s Afrofuturism in Costume Design, Adreinne Waheed’s The Audacity to Thrive, John E. Dowell’s Paths to Freedom, and more. Cranbrook Institute of Science
Bloomfield Hills’ Cranbrook Institute of Science offers free admission on the first Friday of each month, as well as the third Thursday of each month. Courtesy of the Community Foundation of Southeast Michigan, you can visit the planetarium, the observatory, and other exhibitions at the Institute of Science. With the Cranbrook Observatory, the Acheson Planetarium, the Astronomy Gallery, and more, there is something for everyone. The center also offers $5 admission on Fridays between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. to experience Cranbrook after dark!
