Kings of Soul

Vocalists Chester Gregory, Darren Lorenzo, and Michael Lynche take to the Orchestra Hall stage this weekend for Kings of Soul. The show, which is conducted by Jeff Tyzik, will feature a number of soulful songs by artists such as Marvin Gaye, James Brown, The Temptations, and more.  $19+. May 6-8. Orchestra Hall at Max M. Fiddler’s Journey to the Big Screen

This documentary tells the story of how the 1971 musical film Fiddler on the Roof came to be. Directed by Oscar-nominated documentarian Daniel Raim and narrated by actor Jeff Goldblum, Fiddler’s Journey to the Big Screen includes behind-the-scenes footage, never-before-seen images, and interviews with Fiddler on the Roof director Norma Jewison, Chaim Topol, who played Tevye, and more. $9.50 general admission; $7.50 for students, seniors, and DIA members. UFC 274: Oliveira vs. Gaethje  

This weekend’s big fight is showing at seven different Emagine locations. Current lightweight champion Charles Oliveira faces off against former interim titlist Justin Gaethje in the main event. The Lowry Estate Garden Party // Honoring Mother’s Day

Stop by The Lowry Estate from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. this Saturday for a special sip n shop event in honor of Mother’s Day. Taking place in The Lowry Estate’s courtyard, the event will include new summer arrivals, a great sales rack, and a preview of the vintage and designer resale shop’s forthcoming Little Ladies in Lowry line. The line — which is a collaboration between The Lowry Estate owner Corliss Elizabeth Williams and her 5-year-old daughter, Amelia — officially launches in June. Art Birmingham

Produced in association with the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center, Art Birmingham is now in its 41st year. Among the many participating creatives in this year’s event are Karin Wagner Coron, a mixed-media artist from Ypsilanti; painter Michelle Detering of Lansing; Rochester Hills photographer James W. Parker;  and Ryan and Kaitlyn Lawless of Detroit ceramics company Corbé. The event will also include live entertainment, an art activities area, and food trucks and tents. No cost. May 7 and 8.
