Cavalleria Rusticana Performance

After the postponement of Michigan Opera Theatre’s 2021-22 season, the organization is rebounding with a concert presentation of Cavalleria Rusticana — a tragic masterpiece composed by Pietro Mascagni and credited as the sole catalyst for the Verisimo movement in the Italian operatic tradition. The one-act opera follows a doomed love triangle, as it unravels over the course of a single Easter holiday. $129.50+. June 12. Meadow Brook Amphitheatre, 3554 Walton Blvd., Rochester Hills; michiganopera.org

COVID-19 Memorial Garden

Guests who paint a rock and add it to the Detroit Historical Museum’s new COVID-19 Memorial Garden will earn free admission to the museum this Saturday. The project, which will extend throughout the summer, recognizes the losses suffered by the metro Detroit community because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Even as summer and the garden project draw to a close, some of its stones will be collected as artifacts and added to the Detroit Historical Society’s permanent collection.  No cost. June 12. Detroit Historical Museum, 5401 Woodward Ave., Detroit; detroithistoricalsociety.org

Second Saturday Fitness Fest

To support its goal of eradicating racial health disparities, the Black Health Movement Foundation is offering outdoor workouts each month this summer. Participants can try out different fitness stations that offer a variety of fun exercises — each led by one of Detroit premier’s professional fitness trainers. No cost. June 12. Cadillac Square Park, 11 Cadillac Sq., Detroit; blackhealthmovementfoundation.com
