Downtown Detroit Partnership Announces Summer Lineup

Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP), a group of community and business leaders that aim to support economic and social impact throughout the city has announced a lineup of free summer activities for families and folks of all ages throughout the city Detroit, and the metro area.

This summer, new and old traditions are returning alongside events that will highlight Detroit’s diversity, community, and spirit of the city.

Open daily for family, friends, residents, and visitors is Campus Martius Park, which is nestled in Downtown Detroit and offers gardens and waters to cool off in during the summer heat.

Market Fridays will be returning daily at Cadillac Square beginning June 9 with local small businesses and a weekly outdoor market. Downtown Street Eats will be kicking off until October with a lineup of more than 80 food trucks that rotates at Cadillac Square and the Woodward Esplanade weekdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Night Market at Beacon Park will return beginning June 10 from 6-10 p.m. as visitors shop local Detroit based makers and vendors. Live music will be provided with bands or DJs. Food trucks and dinner and drinks will be available as well.

Party in the Park

Show your support for Detroit at Party in the Park. This special event will be held at Campus Martius Park and will feature live music, specialty cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and networking opportunities with Michigan leaders, board members, and stakeholders in business and government. Detroit’s Black Wall Street Presents “Past Forward”

A creative and immersive experience is coming to Detroit. Focusing on three parts, Remembering, Restoring and Rebuilding, this event will be an educational, cultural, and experiential event. A fashion show, live music, and more in tribute of the Black history, legacy, and communities in Detroit and beyond. This special event is being hosted by DDP and Hot Sam’s Detroit. July 21. Detroit 2023 Grand Prix

Rev up your engines as the 2023 Grand Prix Indie Car series comes back to the streets of Detroit with several events. Free viewing of the Grand Prix will take place all three days at Campus Martius Park. Downtown Street Eats will be expanded during the Grand Prix Weekend from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday, June 2, and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4. Small Business Straightaway will return to showcase small business and local artisans June 3-4 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 2-4. Downtown Detroit area; downtowndetroit.org.

Movie Nights in the D

Enjoy your favorite movies outdoors in downtown Detroit. This free annual outdoor movie series returns on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. starting June 7.  Families, movie lovers, and friends can enjoy fan-favorite movies outdoors in Campus Martius Park. Movies featured will be Lyle, Lyle Crocodile, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Top Gun: Maverick, and a 30th anniversary screening of Aladdin. Live entertainment and giveaways will be available before the movie starts for visitors. Wednesdays June 7-August 23. No cost for admission.
