St. Patrick’s Day is coming, and while there’s plenty of celebrations happening at local bars, those events aren’t always suitable for families with young kids to enjoy. Luckily, there are plenty of family-friendly St. Patrick’s Day parades, parties, and events around metro Detroit to choose from. Here are details on some of those events.

2025 Shamrocks & Shenanigans

Help raise funds for the Save A Heart organization, which benefits patients at the Michigan Congenital Heart Center at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. Adults can race in the 5k, and kids can participate in the 1k Kids’ Dash. Prizes include custom medals for all finishers. March 9. Sign-up fees apply. Ann Arbor area. runshamrocks.com

St. Patrick’s Day in the Park

The St. Clair Shores Parks & Recreation Department is hosting this St. Paddy’s event, which will feature live musical entertainment by Bob & Carl, Caber Feidh Pipe Band, and The Laughing Leprechaun Band. Plus, food trucks including Detroit Panzerotti, Little Bros. Burgers, Little Leaf Bake Shop, and BBQ Daddy. A beer tent for the adults and costume contest, too. March 15. No cost for admission. Royal Oak St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Wear your green garb and line up along Washington Ave. to see area bands, dance teams, floats, and other displays make their way through town during this celebration. March 15. No cost for admission. Shamrock Science Day

Twelve high school interns from the Pontiac School District International Technology Academy invite kids to come to the museum and collect stickers that relate to St. Patrick’s Day-inspired science activities. Leprechaun Days
