Assumption Cultural Center’s GreekFest returns Aug. 17-20, 2023, and will feature live entertainment, shopping, tours, kids’ activities, authentic Greek food, and more.

Taking place at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church at 21800 Marter Road, the festival will serve up a wide variety of Hellenic food items. Guests can order kebobs, spinach pie, lamb shanks, stuffed grape leaves, pastitsio, flaming cheese, Greek salad, and Gyros as well as Coney dogs, chicken tenders, hot dogs, and fries. Desserts, prepared by the women of Assumption, include Baklava, custard rolls, Greek breads, cookies, and loukoumades.

A drive-thru station for carryout dishes will also be operating, and a Taverna will be open for those 21 and older.

In addition to Greek food, this year’s event will feature music and dancing along with plenty of entertainment.

The full program for this year’s festival hasn’t been announced just yet, but in the past, entertainment included performances from the Hellenic Society for the Performing Arts, Greek dancing lessons, and daily tours of the church. Meanwhile, for kids, the GreekFest has offered interactive activities like inflatables, games, magic and puppet shows, face painting, special appearances from local mascots, and more. Head to their website for an official 2023 program, which will be released closer to the event.

Guests can also peruse an indoor Marketplace with vendors from the U.S. and Greece. They’ll be selling items such as art, home goods, jewelry, oil paintings, and imported women’s clothing.

Additionally, a Grand Raffle will be held on Aug. 20 with cash prizes ranging from $200 to $10,000. Tickets for the raffle are $10 each and can be purchased online or at Assumption’s office.

Admission is $3 a person, and there is no cost for children 11 and under. There will be free parking and a shuttle service. Proceeds from the festival will benefit Assumption’s community programs and charities.

GreekFest will be open from 4-10 p.m. on Aug. 17, 4-11 p.m. on Aug. 18, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Aug. 19, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 20.
