Each year, thousands flock to one of the world’s longest-running electronic music festivals, Movement Detroit. For nearly two decades, the festival has celebrated Detroit’s electronic music culture as the birthplace of techno. The annual event returns to Hart Plaza this Memorial Day Weekend, from Saturday, May 26 through Monday, May 29.

The festival will include five curated stages featuring unique showcases and designs. Attendees can also practice free yoga, enjoy local food trucks, and browse art installations, artisans, retailers, and record labels on-site. Children 12 years and younger are admitted for free with an adult.

Over three days, the festival will feature nearly 90 EDM performers and artists, many born and raised in Detroit, including highly anticipated performer and DJ, Claude VonStroke who will perform on Saturday. The Detroit native and owner of Dirtybird Records, is known for his fun, funky mixes.

Also headlining Saturday is electronic Detroit-based producer Carl Craig, a Grammy-nominated composer who’s changing the game of Detroit’s second generation of electronic music by blending techno with classical sounds.

Other big names set to perform on Saturday include DJ Maceo Plex, who has nearly six million views on YouTube for his 2015 “Solar Detroit.” Closing out the Underground Stage on Saturday is Ectomorph, a three-member dance and electronic music group that has been a vital part to Detroit’s techno culture since 1994.

Taking the stage on Sunday is platinum-selling recording artist and performer Kevin Saunderson, who has influenced the techno scene for over three decades. Considered to be one of the originators of Detroit techno, Saunderson is nicknamed “The Elevator” for transporting Detroit to an upbeat and high energy sound. Earlier in the day, the legend’s nephew, Kweku Saunderson, and his sons, The Saunderson Brothers, Dantiez and Damarii, will take also perform.

That night, Nina Kraviz, also referred to as “Techno Goddess” by her fans, will close out the Pyramid stage. The Russian DJ and singer is potentially best known for hit, “Ghetto Kraviz.” The song off her self-titled debut album has nearly six million views on YouTube.

Closing out the Red Bull Music Stage on Monday evening is Diplo. The Grammy-nominated Producer of the Year has collaborated with pop artists like M.I.A., Sia, Beyoncé, Shakira, Justin Bieber, Usher, Chris Brown, and recently debuted a song with French Montana.

Finally, all nine members from the hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan will close the festival on Monday night in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), their debut album.
