For those interested in a vegan or plant-based lifestyle, V313 will take over Eastern Market in Detroit on Thursday, March 8. Named the city’s first major vegan event, the celebration will feature both entertainment and information focused on health and sustainability.
“It’s hard to miss reports of declining health of Detroiters and Michiganders,” says John Batdorf, event manager and general manager of the presenting organization, MI Green Team LC3. “By most measures, we are among the least healthy in a generally unhealthy American population.”
V313 aims to provide a solution through education and tasty vegan food from Detroit’s leading veg-friendly restaurants and food trucks. Participating businesses include Detroit Vegan Soul, The Nosh Pit, Crepe Day Twa, The Clean Plate, and Shimmy Shack.
Along with eats, the event will include live music from Rosie and the Fellas, panel discussions such as “Plant-Powered Women,” 50+ vegan-friendly exhibitors, games, vegetarian speed dating, and more.
MI Green Team L3C hopes to provide a platform for leading advocates of healthy and green living to reach a wider audience and to promote health and planet prosperity.
“Our events highlight hundreds of products, services, and resources that promote greater health, naturally and holistically, for both people and planet,” says Batdorf. “The point of holding combined green/healthy events is that the health of people, communities, and the environment are intimately linked.”
Batdorf says V313 is a great opportunity to feature local vegan businesses, advocates, educators, products, and programs. “The issues are serious, in terms of adopting a healthier, more sustainable and compassionate lifestyle, but the event will be seriously fun.”
