There’s more good news for New Center. The City Bakery opened its doors in the Fisher Building this Monday. In June, the New York City-based bakery announced that it would be opening its Detroit outpost as the first location outside of NYC and Japan.

“City Bakery is a neighborhood bakery with a worldwide reputation,” says Maury Rubin, founder of The City Bakery. “We could not be more excited to call the Fisher Building our home.”

The location will offer breakfast, lunch, desserts, and catering services, including pastries, salads, and sandwiches. The menu is said to be seasonal and will utilize locally sourced ingredients.

“A great deal of our ingredients, such as our vegetables, fruits, cheeses, and organic flours and grains, are grown in Michigan,” says Rubin. “The best in locally sourced ingredients remains an integral part of all the food we make.”

The City Bakery joins a variety of new businesses that have recently opened in the Fisher Building, including the Peacock Room’s flagship location, Pot+Box, and William & Bonnie.

The bakery will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
