    The Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) office at Michigan State University has provided education programs for gifted students in grades 7-10 for over thirty years. GATE offers Academic Year programs to the Novi area, as well as offering three Summer Programs at MSU’s campus in East Lansing.

    Academic Year Programs in Novi:

    CHAMP and ISHALL are accelerated programs in math & English, designed for gifted students in grades 7-10. In two years, CHAMP and ISHALL students will complete all four years of high school curriculum, studying the content that is required for MI high school graduation and meeting the Common Core National Standards in Math or English.

    • Weekly class from September 2017-June 2019
    • Class Location: Tollgate Education Center, 28115 Meadowbrook Road, Novi, MI 48377
    • Students from all areas surrounding Novi are welcome!

     

    CHAMP-Novi: Math Curriculum

    • Year 1: Algebra 1 and 2
    • Year 2: Geometry and Pre-calculus
    • Class & Lab held on Mondays from 6:00-8:30 pm
    • Study labs on Sundays

     

    ISHALL-Novi: English and Language Arts Curriculum

    • Year 1: Grades 9 -10
    • Year 2: Grades 11-12
    • Class on Mondays from 4:00-6:00 pm
    • Study labs on Sundays

     

    Summer programs at MSU’s campus in East Lansing:

    CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION FORENSICS CAMP

    **The CSI program is on hiatus for Summer 2017 and will return in Summer 2018.**

    This year there is an alternative option for learning about forensic science: the MST@MSU program is offering Forensic Science as a class option this summer!

    MST@MSU: Mathematics, Science, & Technology

    • July 9-22, 2017
    • Residential or Commuter

     

    MST camp is designed for students to learn about mathematics, science, and technology fields that are not typically offered in the middle school or high school. Students will participate in two classes and one workshop.

    2017 MST Classes: Microbiology, Entrepreneurial Math, Competitive Math, Game Design, Forensic Science, Animation, Chemistry, Physics, Nuclear Astrophysics, Engineering, Mechatronics, and Physiology/Neuroscience

    2017 MST Workshops: Debate, Yoga, Anime/Manga, Writing, GIS, Visual Arts, Music, Archery, and GATE Girl
