Michigan Fashion Week wrapped its 2026 season with eight days of runway shows, shopping, and networking events that culminated in the High Fashion Finale Showcase on October 17 at Harmonie Club in Detroit.

The theme was First Bloom, a nod to the beauty of new beginnings. The show was set in the round with an imposing, sculptural floral arrangement as the focal point that played well on the theme. Here are the trends that stood out.

Denim

Several designers worked denim into their collections, from classic interpretations (think jeans and jackets) to more creative uses. Caldonia’s Box showed a cropped denim cape with puffed shoulders paired with a knee-length floral skirt with denim trim and matching train. The floral fabric was carried into a structured bow headpiece with netting. The brand also presented a jutting knee-length denim dress with oversized bow, wide sleeves, and oversized pockets with blue contrasting trim and roses.

Yvie Styled It unveiled sharp denim sets for men, including a denim chain-link pattern in blue hues on the pants, and a jacket with light denim trim, stand-up collar, and a colorfully intricate pattern covering the back.

Colorful Prints

Bold, brilliant prints were all over the runway, from coats and dresses to pants and handbags. Zapenda turned out a luxe collection of printed fabrics, from a one-shoulder mini dress with train in a pink and green multi-stripe fabric featuring red champagne flutes, to a swirling, shimmery electric-blue short suit with broad, architectural shoulders.

Refuge for Nations showed a yellow and white floral swing coat with puffed shoulders and big buttons while Bhogalli Leather sent out a pink hued animal-print fur coat. God Said Couture dazzled with a vest and pant combo, featuring a porcelain-blue floral print punctuated with a cobalt tuxedo stripe.

Embellishments Everywhere

Whether soft and ethereal or loud and proud, embellishments made their mark. Key Da Brand showcased a flowy, high-low crop top with voluminous sleeves that looked as if a forest had thoughtfully shared a decorative sprinkling of twigs and leaves.

The Style Guru took overalls to new heights with striped ties with big buckles serving as anything-but-ordinary straps. Taylor Childs reimaged a crop top with jeweled trim and ruffle-wrapped sleeves. Destiny & Co. presented a structured cropped jacket trimmed in gold tassels.

Other Standout Moments

There were plentiful moments of runway wow. Some favorites: Caldonia’s Box’s princess coat was fairy-tale worthy. Bobbles & Lace’s sleeveless furry jacket with hood was meant for layering lovers. Yvie Styled It’s mini dress with translucent overlay was party ready. Bhogalli Leather’s bright leather coats and jackets were both functional and fabulous. Amiliano’s leather two-piece and star-spangled set were head turners. The Style Guru’s chocolate faux-leather jacket with matching shorts were sumptuous. God Said Couture’s checked coat checked all the boxes.
