Walking into the unassuming doors of The Collins off Main, you’re pleasantly caught off guard. Transported to a bright- white, modern interior that showcases one of Detroit’s hottest event venues, even the most critical eye takes pause to soak it all in. High ceilings, natural light, and clean interior showcase the endless design possibilities. Steeped in history, this updated Pontiac dealership is a refreshing change from the dark industrial look over the last decade.

Owner, Amy Collins, Michigan native and recent transplant from Santa Barbara, California has returned to bring something truly unique to this state. Celebrating two decades as an event designer/planner has equipped her to create a state-of-the-art facility. When asked why South-East Michigan? She responds, “We returned to be near family and while doing so, found a gap in the events market.” Amy continues, “Our clients hire us to create epic guest experiences. A wedding is ABOUT our couples but it’s FOR their guests. What we have found is the wedding and hospitality industry is focused primarily on the couple’s experience and many times neglects the guests. We designed a location that makes your guests rave and wish they could re-experience your wedding day repeatedly”.

From the moment guests arrive, the wedding is as much about showcasing the stars of the show as helping guests navigate the experience. There is a stunning outdoor space complete with AstroTurf, luxury tent, lawn games, cigar lounge and life-size chess along with a stunning greenery wall that is fully customizable with champagne glasses, escort cards, milk and cookies or even Faygo floats!

The Collins boasts a list of items that are included with their rental. Overnight- upscale accommodations, a chapel coming summer of 2022, an after party at a local distillery, planning services, in-house décor and much more! Their couples rave it was truly a day of relaxing and enjoying every minute. Not a typical response from clients who experienced last minute venue displacements.

The Collins is also one of the most transparent venues on the market. Their website confidently lists pricing, available dates, tour schedule and more. A refreshing change to a process typically shrouded in secrecy. When asked why, Amy confidently responds, “We are here to be industry leaders, to create change where our market demands it. The venue search is one of the most stressful parts of wedding planning. We strive to be so vastly different than our competitors we instantly gain our clients’ trust, respect, & confidence.”

Amy’s warm, infectious personality resonates immediately, “Listen, I love what I do! After twenty years, downturns in the economy, and a pandemic, you must LOVE this industry, or it will churn you out.” She continues, “Clients have chosen us to celebrate their biggest day, with the most important people in their lives. I get up every day and thank God to be working in an industry I know I’m led to serve in.”

When asked who’s the best fit at The Collins, Amy quickly responds, “Gracious people who want to create memorable events for the most important people in their lives.” Grace may be Amy’s middle name, but it truly resonates when you meet not only her but the entire staff of The Collins off Main. They truly serve their guests who feel appreciated, taken care of, and loved while enjoying their truly magical space.
