For students balancing soccer tournaments, golf lessons, or figure skating competitions with homework and faith formation, the choice has often been difficult—until now.

Academy of the Sacred Heart in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan’s #1 Catholic School, is expanding its mission to empower student-athletes to pursue elite training while maintaining academic rigor and connection to school life.

Beginning in Fall 2026, Academy of the Sacred Heart will launch ELEVATE, a first-of-its-kind program for boys in Grades 5-8 and girls in Grades 5-9. Students can follow demanding athletic schedules in sports such as soccer, golf, tennis, hockey, or figure skating without compromising academics, faith, or school community involvement.

    Flexibility for Every Athlete

ELEVATE is intentionally flexible. Students may train with preferred partners such as Next Level Training for soccer or Whole Golf for golf, or continue with their own private coaches. The program integrates training schedules with school life, ensuring students remain engaged in classes, co-curricular activities, faith formation, and service projects.

Amy Hughes, Director of Middle School, explains, “They don’t have to choose between their sport and their education. Here, they can pursue their dreams while staying connected to a school community that nurtures character, resilience, and joy.”

    Partnering for Excellence

Paige Comito, Sacred Heart Athletic Director, says, “It’s not just about the hours you train. It’s about training smarter and developing as a person, not just as an athlete. ”Whether working with a preferred partner through Sacred Heart or a personal coach, ELEVATE ensures athletes receive structured guidance tailored to their sport while balancing recovery, nutrition, and academics.

    Heart and Excellence

Founded in 1851, Academy of the Sacred Heart is Michigan’s earliest independent school still in operation. As part of a global network spanning 40 countries, it champions growth of mind, body, and spirit. April Wilcox, Upper School Director, emphasizes,

“At Sacred Heart, excellence is never just about performance. It’s about character, discipline, and joy. ELEVATE nurtures athletes who are not only skilled competitors but also thoughtful, compassionate leaders.”

ELEVATE combines elite training, academic excellence, and community. It offers student-athletes the confidence to pursue their dreams fully, without compromise.

We don’t just teach elite athletes. We shape exceptional human beings who happen to be elite athletes.
