After postponing its event in May due to the pandemic, Motor City Comic Con is back next month with an impressive lineup of guests, exhibitors, and events. The convention takes place Oct. 15-17 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.

Nearly 30 celebrities are booked for this year’s convention. Guests include singer and actor Meatloaf; actor Elijah Wood from The Lord of the Rings series; NSYNC’s Joey Fatone; WWE wrestlers Adam Scherr (known as “Braun Strowman” in the ring) and Britt Baker; actor Giancarlo Esposito of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul; and actress and singer Jodi Benson, who is known for voicing Ariel in The Little Mermaid.

Photo ops will be available with celebrity guests for an additional cost. Attendees can also catch appearances by comic guests like illustrator Greg Capullo; artist and writer Jim Starlin; writer Scott Snyder; and writer, artist, and podcaster Donny Cates.

Scheduled events and activities include cosplay contests for kids and adults; panels and Q&As, including a VIP special with Capullo and Snyder; sketch duels between professional artists; a live read-through of Winnie the Pooh in different famous voices by accomplished voice actors Jim Cummings, Nolan North, Ross Marquand, and Maurice LaMarche; and more. Motor City Comic Con is also welcoming a number of exhibitors to its convention who will sell comic books, graphic novels, collectibles, apparel, artwork, and other items.

To keep guests safe, Motor City Comic Con is asking all attendees to wear masks. Face coverings can be temporarily removed while eating and drinking and during photo ops at the Celebrity & Comic Guest booths, which will be outfitted with plexiglass barriers. Hand sanitization stations will be available throughout the convention center and event organizers are encouraging attendees to social distance when possible.

Tickets are available for purchase online. Single-day tickets range from $30-$35. Weekend adult passes are available for $85, and the VIP Fan Pass package — which includes goodies like an exclusive print, Motor City Comic Con merch, and a fast pass for autographs and photo lines — is $249. A limited number of tickets will also be available for purchase at the door for a slightly higher price.
