Chef Source began in 1999 when founder Roger Kreager launched the company from his living room with a mission to provide chefs and food-service professionals with high-quality specialty ingredients. By working closely with culinary professionals throughout Michigan, the family-owned business quickly grew, opening its first warehouse in Livonia in 2002 and expanding into a larger facility in 2005. Today, Chef Source serves restaurants, hotels, clubs, and foodservice operators across the Midwest with an extensive portfolio of specialty food products.
A major milestone came in 2018 when Chef Source formed a distribution partnership with Carmela Foods, another family-owned and Michigan-based specialty food distributor. The partnership combined the strengths of both companies, giving customers access to a broader range of products while expanding distribution coverage throughout the region. Built on shared values of quality, service, and strong customer relationships, the collaboration continues to support growth and culinary innovation across the
