The grand opening of Michigan’s third Raising Cane’s location happened today (Sept. 16) at 10 a.m. in Ann Arbor to a pumped crowd. Fans of the beloved chicken spot were lined up around the block in the early hours of the morning to be there for a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8 a.m. In honor of the occasion, Raising Cane’s is awarding 20 random customers today with free Cane’s for a year (three Box Combo meals per month for 12 months)..

The menu is simple — diners can choose how many chicken fingers they want, with four options to pick from, but they won’t find much else. Each meal comes with fries, their signature Cane’s sauce, coleslaw, and a piece of Texas toast. A chicken sandwich is also available, which comes with three chicken fingers between a toasted bun, lettuce, and Cane’s sauce.

Founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Raising Cane’s is known for their free-spirited slogan of ‘One Love’, and their mascot of founder Todd Graves’ yellow Labrador Retriever, Cane III. The first Raising Cane’s opened in 1996 and has been a cult-favorite ever since. The company is working on expanding rapidly this year, with plans to open 100 new locations this year alone.

Known for embodying the theme and culture of whatever city they are located; the Ann Arbor location is no different. While the exterior is uniform, inside, fans of University of Michigan sports will find no shortage of memorabilia and celebratory imagery lining the walls. Highlights include a classic Tom Brady University of Michigan football jersey, a framed woodcut depiction of the Big House, pendants, and numerous magazine covers honoring the university’s rich history as “leaders and best.”

Raising Cane’s first appeared in East Lansing, Ann Arbor’s rival city, in October 2022, and a Canton location opened in February of this year. Detroit Lions’ punter Jack Fox attended the latter’s ribbon-cutting ceremony and participated in the festivities.

The Ann Arbor location is open today until 2 a.m. Its regular hours are Wednesday – Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.
