Jewelry becomes part of life’s most meaningful moments. Mark and Barb Binkley understand the importance of those occasions, and they take seriously the privilege of helping customers celebrate them. At Cooper & Binkley Jewelers in downtown Brighton, personal attention, professional expertise and genuine care define every experience, whether a customer is selecting an engagement ring, creating a custom design or restoring a treasured family heirloom.
The family-owned jewelry store traces its history to 1949, when Marshall Cooper opened Cooper’s Jewelry. Keith Binkley purchased the building and business in 1971, beginning a family legacy that continues today. Mark worked in the store while attending high school, learning the jewelry business from the ground up. Twenty years later, Keith sold the business to Mark and his wife, Barb.
In 2000, the couple made a significant investment in the store’s future. They demolished the aging, 80-year-old structure and opened a beautiful, spacious showroom in the same Main Street location under its present name, Cooper & Binkley Jewelers.
That commitment is reflected in Cooper & Binkley’s 5.0 rating from more than 2,500 customers. Reviewers consistently praise the team’s knowledge, friendliness, patience and ability to make each visit feel personal. For Mark and Barb, that response is especially meaningful because relationships – not transactions – have always been at the heart of the business.
SERVICE, SELECTION AND COMMUNITY

The Cooper & Binkley team takes time to listen, explain available options and help each customer find a piece that reflects the occasion, the recipient and the customer’s individual style. The store also combines its long-standing traditions with innovations that make jewelry shopping more convenient and personal. Its design-your-own-ring application allows customers to explore possibilities and create a ring that feels uniquely theirs before working with the store’s specialists to complete the design.
An impressive selection from respected designers and manufacturers offers something special for many tastes, occasions and budgets. Featured names include Carla | Nancy B, Fana, HL Manufacturing, Imperial Pearls, INOX, Lashbrook, Ostbye, Brevani, Simon G. and Zeghani.

Community involvement is equally important to Mark and Barb. Both have contributed their time and leadership to charitable organizations, civic boards and community committees. Their vision is for Cooper & Binkley to remain a cornerstone of the community while providing an unparalleled jewelry experience. Their dedication has also earned the store recognition as a Best of Detroit finalists in both 2025 and 2026.
Customers will have several special opportunities to visit the store this fall. An Estate Buying Event is planned for Oct. 13-15, 2026. Cooper & Binkley will also welcome Simon G. for a trunk show on Saturday, Nov. 7th followed by a Zeghani trunk show on Saturday, Dec. 5th.
