The Downtown Detroit Partnership will host its second annual Party in the Park on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the award-winning Campus Martius Park. Contributions will benefit downtown Detroit parks and public spaces managed by the DDP.

The benefit will also celebrate Campus Martius Park being voted the No. 1 public square by USA Today readers. During the program, the organization will officially announce the renewal of the DDP’s management of current spaces and expanded trust partnership with the city of Detroit to steward more than a dozen public spaces.

“This summer event shines a light on the growth and history of the downtown and particularly Campus Martius Park, the city’s centerpiece and gathering space,” said DDP CEO Eric B. Larson. “The Party in the Park helps to keep our parks sustainable and vibrant for present and future generations.”

Attendees will enjoy premium networking with civic, corporate, and community leaders; live entertainment by The Dan Rafferty Band; hors d’oeuvres; specialty cocktails; and much more.

Currently, the DDP stewards seven downtown parks and public spaces:

    • Campus Martius Park (CMP): Voted by USA Today readers as the No. 1 public square in the nation. CMP hosts hundreds of programs and events each year, some of which include the Detroit Tree Lighting, beach parties, Campus Kids Day, and Movie Nights in the D.
    • Cadillac Square: An extension of Campus Martius Park for major events like the Detroit Jazz Festival, NFL Draft, Detroit Tree Lighting, and more. It is also home to the Downtown Street Eats food truck program, Downtown Detroit Markets, and more.
    • Grand Circus Park: Downtown’s oldest park, this beloved space is surrounded by the city’s favorite attractions, including Comerica Park, the Fox Theatre, the Detroit Opera House, Ford Field, Little Caesars Arena, and The Fillmore. It has expanded seating areas, a dog park, historic fountains, and gardens and hosts numerous free events.
    • Capitol Park: Nestled in the heart of the city and surrounded by residential, restaurant, and retail spaces. This gem offers a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for an afternoon stroll with friends, a visit to the off-leash dog park, fitness classes, and more.
    • Woodward Esplanade: Connecting Campus Martius Park to Spirit of Detroit Plaza and the Detroit riverfront. It is the last stop on the QLine.
    • Beacon Park: This 1.2-acre public park has attracted over 3 million visitors since its opening. It features beautiful light installations, an open lawn space, and a contemporary two-story restaurant.
    • *Paradise Valley Beatrice Buck Park: Part of the DDP’s new expanded scope, which will be shared in more detail at Party in the Park.

The Party in the Park benefit will also include a VIP Pre-Party presented by Moët & Chandon from 5 to 6 p.m. that will feature a “Moët Moment” Champagne toast as well as premium signature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and more.

Party in the Park VIP and general admission tickets, as well as premium garden cabanas, can be purchased via Eventbrite. For more event information, visit downtowndetroit.org/ddpevents.

Party in the Park is sponsored by MGM Grand Detroit, Moët & Chandon, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Wayne State University, and Crain’s Detroit Business.
