The 23,000-square-foot merchandise mecca known as Leon & Lulu is a one-stop shop for unique lifestyle finds designed by local artisans. From custom furniture to gifts, accessories, and women’s clothing, the Clawson-based shop delivers big on variety.

Plus, there’s plenty of charm. Leon & Lulu is housed in the building that was once home to the historic Ambassador Roller Rink, a dog that goes by the name of Spot Scannell greets customers at the door, and the store’s neighboring Three Cats Café offers up eclectic, yet homey decor, as well as plenty of tasty snacks.

Fittingly, Leon & Lulu’s upstanding retail reputation is being honored this year. The store swept the Best of Detroit shopping category, taking home wins in Best Detroit Souvenir Shop, Best Furniture Store – Single Location, and Best Gift Shop. But the biggest honor of all undoubtedly goes to Mary Liz Curtin, the founder of Leon & Lulu who has been named Best Independent Store Owner. Curtin’s experience in the gifts and home industry radiates throughout the shop. That in itself is worth a visit.
