After first being announced in Nov. 2024, Cosm Detroit officially opened last night (Sept. 10). Per The Detroit News, a sold-out crowd packed into the 1,500-capacity, 70,000-square-foot venue to watch the San Francisco 49ers take on the Los Angeles Rams from Melbourne, Australia.
Hour Detroit attended a media preview of Cosm Detroit on the morning of its opening to take in the stunning LED displays, sample menu offerings, and learn what visitors can expect in the future.
About Those Ticket Prices…
One of the hot topics many are talking about are the ticket prices for Cosm Detroit. For popular events, like when the Detroit Lions take on the New Orleans Saints during Week 1 of the 2026 season, tickets inside “The Dome” area of Cosm Detroit are going for $330, at the time of publishing.
Cosm President and CEO Jeb Terry Jr. addressed the ticket prices saying, “We do leverage dynamic prices. … Certain events are higher demand, and we price based on the scarcity of that event, and so, you’ll see [prices] move up and down.”
Terry added, “We monitor demand and make sure the fans that really want to come have the opportunity to do that.”
Food and Drink Menu Focuses on Local Ingredients and Brands
When it comes to the food and drink menu at Cosm Detroit, they pride themselves on supporting local brands and suppliers. In fact, Cosm’s SVP Head of Venues Corey Breton, who grew up in Jackson, said, “We’ve curated and tailored our menu to be specific to the city of Detroit and to the state of Michigan. We source all of our products within 100 miles of this site. So, when you try our Cadillac Stack [sandwich], you’ll know that the Wigley’s corned beef is from Eastern Market. Obviously, we’re pouring Oberon, when it’s in season.”
The Cosm Hospitality
Other than the incredibly impressive technology throughout the venue, Cosm Detroit makes it a point to stress just how important hospitality and service are to their brand. In total, over 300 people have been hired in various roles at Cosm Detroit, including security, servers, bussers, front-of-house personnel, and more.
“The technology will walk, but the hospitality will win,” said Breton. “That feeling is what keeps you coming back. We always want to be the beacon for downtown Detroit. That’s why we chose this location. That’s why we chose this site.”
Other Planned Offerings from Cosm Detroit
Currently, Cosm Detroit has a slate of scheduled events, from NFL games to US Open matches. They even have a partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures and have screenings of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The Matrix, and the 2017 horror film It.
Cosm is currently in talks with other film studios to further expand their cinematic offerings, with Terry saying they will be announcing more film experiences in the near future. Additionally, Cosm has screened Cirque du Soleil performances at their other locations and are looking to offering screenings of concerts.
“We also have ambition to go into the music space, where we can bring the biggest and best artists from the coolest destinations around the world,” said Terry. “Just imagine your favorite artist here [at Cosm Detroit] from Red Rocks [in Colorado], from the O2 [in London].”
The Screen Technology in “The Dome” Really is Incredible
Hour Detroit recorded plenty of video and shot countless photos during the media preview event, but to really experience the 87-foot-diameter, 12K+ LED screen inside “The Dome,” you need to be there in person. It’s overwhelming in the best way possible and unlike anything most people have experienced outside of the Sphere in Las Vegas.
