The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Corktown may be called off due to the pandemic, but that doesn’t mean you can’t march to the beat of your own drum this year. Carhartt and Guinness, which launched a St. Patrick’s Day collection last month, are hoping to keep the spirit of the holiday alive during these socially distanced times with a new initiative.
Both companies are asking customers to reimagine their holiday at home this year. Consumers are welcome to share their “at-home parade” on social media by using the hashtag #MakeYourOwnParade and tagging @Carhartt on Instagram.
“Throughout 2020, we saw the resiliency of hard-working people all around the world,” says Janet Ries, vice president of marketing at Carhartt, in a press release. “We’ve had to reinvent the way we connect and how we share experiences. So, while we’re still unable to celebrate in person, we encourage everyone to #MakeYourOwnParade and share your celebrations in the safest, most connected, and optimistic way.”
Customers can also shop and sport the new Carhartt X Guinness collection in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Featuring items for both men and women, the collection includes T-shirts that combine the Guinness and Carhartt logos, hoodies with the names of both companies and a large shamrock, shirts with archival Guinness art, beanies and caps, and a four-pack insulated beverage sling. Items come in a variety of colors, including black, gray, white, and of course, green.
Some pieces also feature the phrase “work for the better,” a tagline that speaks to the mission of both companies. Last year, Carhartt and Guinness made a special-edition lager to raise money for disaster response organization Team Rubicon. And the year before that, they helped fund the Plumbers Union of Chicago
Items in the Carharrt X Guinness collection range from $20 to $60. Customers can shop for the pieces online, in Carhartt retail stores across the country, and select retailers.
