Dave Coulier announced that he received a second cancer diagnosis in October. This diagnosis follows the actor’s previous battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. In April, he announced he was cancer-free.
Coulier shared this news in an appearance on Today where he detailed his diagnosis.
“I went in for a PET scan, just a routine check-up and something flared on the PET scan,” said Coulier. “It turned out that I have P16 squamous carcinoma at the base of my tongue. So I said to the doctors, I said, ‘Well, did this happen because of the lymphoma?’ And they said, ‘Totally unrelated.'”
Coulier is currently undergoing radiation therapy consisting of 35 treatments, which he said he will finish on Dec. 31. Fortunately, he noted that the prognosis for his diagnosis is very good and has a “90-plus curability rate.”
Coulier stressed that early detection has been crucial in his non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis and his new P16 squamous carcinoma diagnosis. He encouraged Today co-host Craig Melvin and viewers to stay up-to-date on all checkups and tests and said, ” … They will save your life.”
Dave Coulier’s First Battle with Cancer
Hour Detroit contributor Natalia Holtzman spoke with Coulier’s wife, Melissa, for our October 2025 issue about her husband’s initial cancer treatment. Melissa said she and Dave combined holistic treatments with chemotherapy to fight his non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. An emphasis was put on healthy eating and exercise, when possible.
Dave and Melissa Coulier continued fighting cancer by hosting the “Pain to Purpose” fundraiser, which brought in over $30,000 for cancer research.
Melissa said, “We often hear that laughter is the best medicine, and it truly is … A cancer journey can be very dark. Laughter can be a very bright light that will guide you to a better place — both physically and emotionally.”
We send our well-wishes to Dave and Melissa as they take on a second cancer fight.
