Design Within Reach celebrated the grand opening of its new Birmingham location on September 17 with an evening of design, conversation, and cocktails. Presented in partnership with Detroit Month of Design and HOUR Detroit, the event brought together members of Metro Detroit’s design community for a panel discussion inspired by Eventually Everything Connects: Mid-Century Modern Design in the US (2025). The conversation featured Amy Auscherman, Director of MillerKnoll Archives & Brand Heritage; Andrew Satake Blauvelt, Director of Cranbrook Art Museum; and Bridget Bartal, MillerKnoll Special Projects Curator at Cranbrook Art Museum. Guests explored the designers, ideas, and objects that helped shape American modernism before enjoying a cocktail reception and experiencing DWR’s newest Michigan showroom
