Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has partnered with Give Merit’s Fate program to create a capsule clothing collection. All proceeds from the JG16 X Fate will be donated to the program’s scholarship fund and matched dollar for dollar by Goff himself. The collection of hats, t-shirts, and hoodies was showcased on HBO’s Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Detroit Lions fourth episode which debuted on August 30.

Give Merit’s Fate program is a four-year initiative that provides project-based learning, character development, career exposure, and mentorship to Detroit youths. The program seeks to combat the statistic that 1 in 4 of these youths will not graduate from high school. In addition to its confidence- and career-building skills, the initiative also provides $5,000 in scholarship to students who graduate high school and meet the program’s set standards.

“This partnership with Jared Goff not only means the world to the mission we serve, but to the action we challenge our students to achieve daily,” says Fate Detroit’s co-founders Kuhu Saha and David Merritt. “Our students had the opportunity to work hands on with Jared in designing this collection, which will be something they cherish as well as aid in their professional development.”

Goff, who was born and raised in California, was traded to the Detroit Lions by the Los Angeles Rams in January of 2021, in exchange for Matt Stafford and some draft picks. With big shoes to fill both on the field and in the community, Goff is rising to the challenge.

“This cause and partnership is important to me because of my love for Detroit and the importance of fueling the future while providing youth with the proper access and opportunities that they deserve,” Goff says. “I had the pleasure of working with four amazing Fate students, Aaron, Keylee, Kyla, and Torion, and collaborating with graphic designer Skylar Holt to develop a special collection that speaks to our love of Detroit.”

The collection itself features hoodies, hats, and t-shirts with sayings like “World Changers Detroit,” “Let it Rip,” and “Detroit Underdogs,” and are all priced under $60.

The collection is available for purchase at jg16.store and can be seen in action on episode four of Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Detroit Lions on HBO.
