The Toasted Lantern

The Toasted Lantern from Blake’s features the cider mill’s Apple Lantern hard cider, which is made from handpicked apples and oven-roasted pumpkin.

Ingredients:

– About a quarter gallon of apple cider

– 1 packet of mulling spices (similar to the size of a teabag)

– 2 to 3 cinnamon sticks

– 1.5 oz. Rye Whiskey or Bourbon

– Blake’s Apple Lantern Hard Cider

– Ice

– Apple slice for garnish

Directions:

Place the cider in a pot on the stove with a packet of mulling spices and cinnamon sticks. Be sure to wrap the string on the mulling spice packet around the pot handle so it doesn’t catch fire. Let the mixture simmer until half of it is left in the pot.

Move the cider into a different container to cool, leaving the mulling spices and cinnamon sticks to soak.

Pour about two ounces of the cider and an ounce and a half of the rye whiskey — rum or bourbon could be options, too — into a shaker with ice and shake. Pour everything into a glass and add Blake’s Apple Lantern Hard Cider on top until your glass is full. Garnish with an apple slice and cinnamon sticks, and enjoy.
