PARK 600 BAR + KITCHEN // The former Brookshire has had a complete redo. They’ve stripped away formality in favor of a casually comfortable setting. Royal Park Hotel, 600 E. University Dr., Rochester; 248-453-8732. B, L, & D daily and afternoon tea ($41 per person) Wed.-Sat. by reservation.
GRIFF’S // This Allen Park spot may seem to be just a modest watering hole, but the creative menu reveals it to be something more. No surprise to those who followed chef Steve Kempner at pop-up dinners around Corktown. Now he’s settled down at Griff’s where he is executive chef for proprietor Chris Griffin, who transformed the small building into a cozy gastropub. The menu includes pub standards, including burgers, Reuben and club sandwiches, and fish and chips, as well as surprises like Scotch eggs, housemade sausage, osso bucco, and orange-ginger glazed Faroe Island salmon. $15. 14596 Southfield Rd., Allen Park; 313-724-6878. L & D Tues.-Sun.
