The next generation of Ford Mustang is here, and it’s making its grand debut during The Stampede at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Sept. 14, 2022.
According to MotorTrend, the 2024 Mustang is set to usher in a new era of performance on an updated version of the car’s existing platform. It is also rumored to run on hybrid power — a first in the Mustang’s 60-year existence.
“When we conceived the idea of an indoor-outdoor Detroit Auto Show, The Stampede was the kind of event we hoped and believed was possible,” Rod Alberts, the executive director of the North American International Auto Show said in a press release.
“We are proud to support Ford with what will be an absolutely iconic milestone, celebrating the heritage and future of the Mustang, as well as the global mobility industry, right here in Detroit.”
Leading up to the official unveiling at 8 p.m., thousands of Mustang drivers who took part in The Drive Home — an annual cross-country Mustang celebration presented by America’s Automotive Trust — will ride together to Hart Plaza for the big reveal.
This procession will feature Mustangs different decades and drivers from around the world.
In addition, Hour Detroit has teamed up with Ford Motor Company, and the American International Auto Show to give away a free two-year lease of the all-new Ford Mustang GT.
Guests of the event simply wear attire from their favorite decade of Mustang. From there, a panel of Hour Detroit editors, and experts in fashion, arts, and entertainment, will judge the attire and select 12 finalists (two from each decade). The first place winner will win the lease. Second place will score an early drive in the new Mustang, and third place will get to take a hot lap in a new Mustang with a Ford Performance driver.
Winners will be announced no later than Sept. 15, 2022.
The Stampede will be held live in Hart Plaza on Sept. 14, 2022, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. The new Mustang will be unveiled at 8 p.m. The live event is sold out, but you can stream it on the Ford YouTube Channel and the Ford Mustang Facebook page.
