Cosm Detroit Opening on September 10

The 70,000-square-foot immersive sports and entertainment venue near Campus Martius in downtown Detroit will screen a variety of sporting events and films

The long-awaited opening of Cosm Detroit is taking place on Sept. 10, with a Shared Reality screening of the San Francisco 49ers vs. the Los Angeles Rams at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia. The first viewing of a Detroit Lions game is set for Sept. 17 against the Buffalo Bills. Meanwhile, Michigan Football fans will be able to take in their game against Oklahoma on Sept. 12.

This marks the fourth location the immersive entertainment company has launched. The first locations in Los Angeles and Dallas opened in 2024. Its third location in Atlanta opened in June.

Construction on the 70,000-square-foot venue first broke ground in April 2025, after being initially announced in Nov. 2024.

As previously reported, this space will have a capacity of about 1,500 and is comprised of three distinct areas: The Deck, The Hall, and The Dome. The Deck is an outdoor rooftop area that will overlook downtown Detroit. The Hall features a wall-to-wall, sportsbook-inspired LED screen that will show multiple sporting events at once. The main attraction at Cosm Detroit, however, is The Dome, which boasts an 87-foot-diameter, 12K+ LED screen with a seating capacity of around 700.

What to Expect from Cosm Detroit

Cosm’s venues specialize in Shared Reality viewing experiences. Cosm defines Shared Reality as “the immersive experience of augmented or virtual reality but on a much more immense scale” with “real-time interaction and a communal experience with your friends and fellow fans that you can’t get with a headset.”

While an exact menu hasn’t been released, Cosm Detroit will provide “elevated food and beverage options” to its visitors, with in-seat service provided in The Dome and The Hall.
