With just over a week until the release of their annual Pączki Day Vodka, Detroit City Distillery has announced the surprise release of a new, limited-edition horseradish vodka.

The vodka, Hometown Horseradish, will be released on Feb. 3 and is distilled with fresh horseradish and 100 percent Michigan corn vodka. It is made to be the “perfect” addition to your favorite Bloody Mary recipe.

“Every year when we release Pączki Day Vodka, we try to create an amazing experience for our fans and reward them with something new,” Michael Forsyth, co-owner of Detroit City Distillery said in a press release. “This year’s big surprise is Hometown Horseradish Vodka.”

Named “Hometown” after the affiliation horseradish has with family dinners and generational recipes, this vodka features a “solid kick,” according to Forsyth, but also goes down easy.

“It might be the smoothest vodka we’ve ever made,” he says.

Hometown Horseradish will go on sale alongside the Pączki Day Vodka, ready-to-drink Bloody Mary and other cocktails, and limited-edition merch, at 8 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023. Bottles are $35 and are only available in Detroit City Distillery’s online shop. They are expected to sell out quickly.

To celebrate the releases of Hometown Horseradish and Pączki Day Vodka, Detroit City Distillery is hosting three events: the Pączki Day launch party on Feb. 4; Polish Bloody Brunch with Pietrzyk Pierogi — one of Hour Detroit’s favorite pierogi spots — on Feb. 12; and the Pączki Party on Feb. 18.
