Faygo is undoubtedly the king of Michigan-made pop for Detroiters, but Ann Arbor’s Zingerman’s Delicatessen and Northwoods Soda & Syrup Co. of Traverse City have joined forces to bring another homegrown pop option to shelves this month.

The line of pop is made with real cane sugar and high-quality extracts — both are musts for the family-owned handcrafted soda syrup company, Northwoods Soda — and comes in 11 mouthwatering flavors including typical pop flavors like root beer, cola, and ginger ale to more unique options such as sparkling pomegranate lemonade, black cherry cream, and grapefruit. Plus, two soda waters: Blueberry acai and rhubarb lavender.

While Northwoods Soda products are sold in more than 500 stores and restaurants, Zingerman’s Deli will offer all 11 flavors alongside their must-try Michigan-made sandwiches sold from one of the only downstate soda fountains dispensing Northwoods Soda.

““We are excited about the possibility of custom flavors and look forward to bringing a new Zingerman’s bespoke flavor to the Deli soon,” Rodger Bowser, Zingerman’s Deli Managing Partner said in a press release.

The drinks will become available sometime this month.

Zingerman’s Delicatessen is located at 422 Detroit St., Ann Arbor. For more information on Northwoods Soda & Syrup Co. or this new drink line visit northwoodssoda.com — and visit HourDetroit.com for even more local food news.
