You know the saying: April showers bring May margaritas. OK, we made that up, but come May we’re ready for some good, old-fashioned tequila-based beverages in anticipation of al fresco imbibing.

Having a Cinco de Mayo fiesta? Try this recipe from Ferndale hot spot Imperial, popular for their tacos and margaritas. It’s a classic with fresh lime juice and simple syrup — no sour mix here. Salud!

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces tequila (they use Sauza)
  • 1 ounce Triple Sec
  • 1 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • Sliced limes and kosher salt

Directions

  1. Mix first four ingredients over ice in a shaker.
  2. Rub lime on the rim and coat with salt.
  3. Pour the drink into the glass and garnish with a lime slice.
