If you’re still buzzing from the recent Wimbledon finals, you’ll be able to enjoy plenty of international tennis talent in metro Detroit at the Cranbrook Tennis Classic. The tournament will be held July 19-26 at the Cranbrook Schools Tennis Complex in Bloomfield Hills.
Started in 2023, the tournament is one of the premier stops on the ATP Challenger Tour. It was named the 2025 ATP Challenger Tournament of the Year. 2026 marks the first year of the tournament as an ATP Challenger 125, the second-highest tournament tier on the ATP Challenger Tour.
Tennis Pros Slated to Compete
This year Cranbrook will host players from all over the world, including China, Spain, France, Great Britain, Tunisia, and Estonia.
Some players will be on the Cranbrook courts straight from the Wimbledon green. Michael Zheng, two-time NCAA champion, headlines the Cranbrook tournament after reaching the third round of Wimbledon. Mackenzie McDonald will also play after his qualification at Wimbledon, once ranked as high as #37 in the world. Australian player Thanasi Kokkinakis will also play straight off the Wimbledon doubles semifinals.
However, audiences can expect a few local faces on the court. Born in St. Joseph, Reilly Opelka is slotted to play, was once ranked #17 in the world, and boasts a 140 mph serve. Hailing from Okemos, recent Michigan State grad Ozan Baris is part of the main draw list. University of Michigan alumni Evan King and Andrew Fenty will also play.
Defending champion Mark Lajal of Estonia will return to the tournament again this year looking to protect his title.
The Growth of The Cranbrook Tennis Classic
Lajal will be met with tougher competition as The Cranbrook Tennis Classic continues to grow in both size and breadth of competitors.

Single day tickets start at $22, while a week pass starts at $155.25. Complete ticket and tournament information is available at cranbrooktennisclassic.com. All proceeds go to the Palmer Park Tennis Academy in Detroit.
This year, the Feldman Automotive Group is offering free admission to high school tennis players for the matches on Wednesday, July 22. One free ticket will be provided per player wearing their high school tennis jersey.
