Traverse City’s Chateau Chantal Winery and Inn is hosting a ‘90s-themed weekend June 3-4, 2023, to celebrate its 30th anniversary. All weekend long, staff and guests are encouraged to wear 90’s gear and enjoy special discounts on wine and winery merch.

Chateau Chantal, which sits atop a ridge on Old Mission Peninsula 12 miles north of Traverse City, combines a winery, vineyards, bed and breakfast, six private home sites, and winding roads — creating a “retreat into Northern Hospitality” and a relaxing getaway in the heart of wine country.

Founded by Bob Begin, the European-style winery and bed & breakfast opened in 1993 — seven years after Chateau Chantal first planted their vines. The 75-acre estate overlooks Traverse Bay and cultivates community in several ways. The location’s incredible views and hospitable staff hosts bed and breakfast events, small wedding parties, cooking classes, and wine tastings, along with educational opportunities, conferences, and meetings, lunch tours, friendly regional wine events, and relaxing getaways.

“When Chateau Chantal started, we had three B&B rooms, the winery, tasting room, and residence.  After we expanded in 2003 and again in 2010, the company was recognized for our cool-climate wines, beautiful location, and exceptional hospitality,” the winery’s CEO Marie-Chantal Dalese said in a press release. “It’s been amazing to participate in the changes to the Michigan wine community over years – we’re continuously evolving.”

The estate is family-friendly and offers free parking and breakfast. Additionally, the rooms are equipped with free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a kitchen unit.

During the ‘90s weekend, Chateau Chantel will offer 30 percent off all bottles of wine and logo merch, and $.93 glasses of flagship wines (Late Harvest Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer) all weekend. There will also be a free cellar tour on June 3 at 1 p.m. with founder Bob Begin.

All events will take place at the winery, located at 15900 Rue de Vin, Traverse City.
