JD’s Stage Bistro in Chelsea
One of southeast Michigan’s most anticipated restaurants of the year opened for dinner service on Aug. 11 — but there’s more in store. JD’s Stage Bistro, co-owned by actor Jeff Daniels, is hosting a sold-out, four-night opening celebration from Wednesday, Aug. 26 through Saturday, Aug. 29. Those four nights will see Daniels performing at The Stage — the restaurant’s venue, with a series of acts, including Albion’s own Grammy-nominated husband-and-wife duo The War and Treaty. Located in downtown Chelsea, the restaurant is an owned partnership between Daniels and Tannin Property Group and has been over two years in the making. 117 1/2, S Main St, Chelsea; jdstagebistro.com.

Pour Decisions and Soft Spot inside Corktown’s Street Beet
Street Beet, the popular vegan hotspot in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood, has introduced two new concepts under its roof. Those are a vegan coffee shop and a walk-up window serving dairy-free ice cream. Pour Decisions is the new coffee counter, the twist being that it uses exclusively oat milk — which means guests never have to pay the typical café upcharge for non-dairy milk. Matcha, breakfast sandwiches, and gluten-free pastries round out the menu. Soft Spot features soft serve treats made from a coconut milk base, available in vanilla and a monthly rotating special flavor. Also on the menu are dirty sodas, milkshakes, Blizzys, plus plant-based hot dogs and smashburgers. Following its soft opening period, Soft Spot’s official opening takes place Aug. 20. 1800 Michigan Ave, Detroit; streetbeet.online.
