AMORE DA ROMA // Guy Pelino, Roma Café chef for the last four years, continues the saga of the restaurant on the edge of the Eastern Market with improvements in the kitchen and the main dining room of the venerable structure (circa 1890). He retained the Roma menu, adding a charcuterie board and updating the wine list. He did not change the character of the old-school restaurant, known for pastas from spaghetti and meatballs to ravioli and lasagna — and the steaks that seem to be part of any Italian menu. He also added two important elements: valet parking and a complimentary shuttle service to downtown events. 3401 Riopelle St., Detroit; 313-831-5940. L & D daily. $15

M’S TABLE & BAR // In the space that formerly housed Tin Fish, this ambitious spot masterminded by David Muer, who ran the Blue Pointe Restaurant on Detroit’s east side for 32 years, offers a seafood/steak menu that covers many bases, including sushi and raw bars, in a memorabilia-bedecked setting. Executive chef Don Throneberry heads the notably spacious kitchen. Signature dishes include sushi rolls, steaks, and desserts. Partridge Creek, 17470 Hall Rd., Clinton Township, 586-412-2539; L & D daily, Br. Sun. $16
