When it comes to Pi Day, there are two distinct groups that people that celebrate, both of which share an affinity for one common denominator — the circle.

Math enthusiasts occupy the first group and celebrate Pi, the mathematical term represented by the sixteenth letter of the Greek alphabet. Pi is used to represent the ratio of a circle’s diameter to its circumference always equaling 3.14159. Fittingly, since the late 1980’s, we’ve been using March 14 (3.14) to celebrate this mathematical constant.

For the other group, it’s a day to celebrate a much more delectable circle — pie. And as Pi goes on indefinitely, so does our appetite.

In honor of the holiday, we have tracked down a number of local eateries for you to get your fix. Whichever way you like your Pi(e) — numerical or edible — you’re bound to find a place to celebrate your love for math and pastries below.

We’ll leave it up to you to calculate the ratio of slices consumed to your own circumference in the end.
